The Kent Cricket Club Women’s Vice-captain, Fatu Pessima has exhibited an astonishing performance in the ongoing Nigeria Cricket Federation T20 International Tournament. The youngster contributed immensely in ensuring her side won the match by 87 runs, on the second day.
The opening encounter with the Host Nigeria at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval in Lagos on the 28th March 2022, was not a successful match, as the Ladies Patriots lost by 41 runs to the Nigerians. 29 runs was scored by Mabinty King and Kent Cricket Club Women’s Captain Ann Marie Kamara settled for 27 runs. With a vibrant team spirit, they regroup and put all heads together to face the Ghanaians.
Winning the coin toss, Sierra Leone Ladies decided to face the ball, with such a resilient confident and a focused mindset, they made the first inning very much uncomfortable for their opponent, as they posted a total of 136 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 20.0 Overs.
The open batters for the Ladies Patriots were on an aggressive batting spirit as the show the true nature of how a T20 match should be played. A massive 59 runs off 63 balls was score by Mabinty King, followed by Aminata Kamara with 33 runs off 26 balls and an addition 20 runs from Fatu Pessima gave the Ladies Patriots a comfortable first Inning.
It was a thrilling second inning as the Ghanaians replied with 49 runs in 12.2 overs. Fatu Pessima was very much fierce with the ball against the Ghanaians as she took 4 of their wickets, conceding 14 runs in 4 Overs, Janet Kowa took 3 wickets in 2.5 overs, and 10 runs was made off her, Ann Marie Kamara had 2 wickets to her name as well.
With a good bowling spell and a calm batting spirit, Fatu Pessima was named player of the match.
Sierra Leone will be hosted by the Ladies from Kigali, Rwanda in their next encounter.
