John Hunt receives his Spirit of Cricket Award
John Hunt, captain of the British High Commission/DFID Beach Cricket Team, won the "Spirit of Cricket Award" at the recently-concluded Beach Cricket Festival hosted at the Place Resort, Tokeh Beach, Freetown on Sunday 25th February 2018.
Umpire Patrick Kamara, who nominated John Hunt for the Award, said; "John showed the right spirit of cricket in a match against Safari Company Limited. He tried to hit a ball and didn't seem to connect it, but immediately left the pitch. I was surprised because I didn't hear any sound and there was no appeal as well from the fielding side."
All-rounder Edward Ngegba of Safari Company Limited was awarded the Player of the Tournament trophy for his outstanding performance in the competition, besides winning the Best Batsman of the Tournament trophy for scoring the most runs. Lansana Lamin, also of Safari, received the Best Bowler award for taking the most wickets.
