Kent whitewash Old Edwardians by 114 runs in ODI cricket Premier League.


Kent Cricket club (KCC) got a convincing victory on Saturday 11th February 2017 against Old Edwardians in the second leg of the on-going Mercury sponsored ODI Premier League at the Prince of Wales Cricket venue in Kingtom, Freetown. KCC whitewashed their opponent by 114 runs in to record their second victory in the league. Saturday’s win has placed them in third position.

During the match, which was reduced to 40 overs, KCC won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 226 runs all out in 34 overs. Bockarie Abdul was the top scorer with 41 runs, while Nabeel Shahzad scored 33 runs and Osman Thomas made 31 runs.

David Halloway and Momodu Gbla scored 18 runs each. Samuel Humper was the pick of the bowlers for Old Edwardians Cricket Club. He took 3 wickets and conceded 40 runs in 3 overs. Ishmeal Thoronka took 2 wickets. Emmanuel Mansaray and Peter Lahai took one wicket each.

When Old Edwardians took the crease they replied with 112 runs in 17.3 overs. Emmanuel Mansaray scored 23 runs. KCC’s youngest, medium-paced bowler Mohmaed Lamin Kamara bowled extremely well and took 4 wickets in 4 overs. He was named “man of the match” while Nabeel Shahzad took 2 wickets. Osman Thomas Sankoh and Idrissa Bah took one wicket each.
