Kent Postpone Junior Cricket Competition


Kent Cricket Club (KCC), has postpone this year’s annual Junior Cricket Tournament (Pairs Cricket) that LimeLine Internet (SL) was to sponsor until further notice. The tournament is the second edition of U-13 boys that was expected to take place this month but has now been postponed because of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. The Kent Cricket Club in collaboration with their prime sponsors LimeLine is using the time to send this message to all that Ebola is real and to prevent it, people must wash their hands with soap, chlorine and dettol continuously. They should stop shaking hands and avoid body contact.

Emmanuel Pessima, Chief Executive Officer, said the club and its sponsors are responding to the call of the President Koroma to observe the State of Public Emergency. He called on all to put everything in prayer as God is the best healer that cure sicknesses. Pessima assured the youth cricketers that they will organize the tournament as soon as the Ebola outbreak has been eradicated.

The club has also stopped all their school training activities including the American International School in Sierra Leone. The government, few months back banned all sporting activities until the disease is eradicated. Kent Cricket Club is warning all to be law abiding. The club executive said Ebola will not last forever and there will be life after Ebola. The club will also kick-off training in schools and donations of kits backed by the allocation of scholarships to some players will take place as soon as Ebola is kicked out of the country, the chairman averred.
