KENT KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING

The Kent Cricket Club's Youth Team have maintained their winning start to the season by comprehensively beating Prince of Wales Cricket Club over the weekend in the ongoing Sierra Leone Cricket Association Mercury Youth Cricket League 2019.

Kent Cricket Club batted first and put on an imposing score of 227 on the board. Vital contributions were made right through the innings, beginning with opener Alusine Turay's brisk 20 off 13 balls that gave an early initiative to the innings alongside Raymond Coker, who scored 34 runs. The two highest scores of the innings were made by captain *Ibrahim S Kamara and Jonathan Bundu.

The skipper played an innings of real intent, scoring 42 runs off 27 balls. The innings included five fours and a six. Bundu played the anchoring role, finishing on a fantastic, unbeaten 55. He faced 41 balls, and also hit five fours. A mention must also go to Challey Kamara, who was the pick of the bowlers for Prince of Wales Cricket Club with a return of 2/33 from six overs.

Buoyed by the sturdy batting display and their own performance in the previous game, Kent's bowlers were high on confidence, and the way in which they bowled to the Prince Waleans showed that they are a unit to be feared. No batsman was able to score more than 25 runs, and Prince of Wales Cricket Club were bowled out for just 72 in 16.1 overs.

The pick of the Kent bowlers was Bockarie Abdul, who finished with extraordinarily good figures 4/6 from 2.1 overs, a performance which he can be extremely proud of George Sesay, hero of the last match, bowled the only maiden of the game and was extremely economical, conceding only eight runs from three overs.

Indeed, it was another commendable team performance by the Kent Youth Cricket Club, and it augurs well for what can shape up to be an exciting season ahead.
