KENT WINS TWO IN A ROW TO MOVE CLOSER TO PROMOTION

Kent Cricket Club won two consecutive matches over the weekend against Albert Academy Cricket Club and Wonderers Cricket Club to move closer to promotion in the ongoing Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA)/ Mercury T20 Division One League .

The first match was played on Saturday against Albert Academy Cricket Club. Batting first after losing the toss, Kent scored 197 runs in allotted 20 overs with an unbeaten 106 runs off 72 balls for Emmanuel Pessima while Ibrahim Kamara contributed with a sensational 35 runs off 22 balls. For Albert Academy Cricket Club, Desmond Phillie and Eustace Jones took 2 wickets each in their 4-over spell.

In reply, Albert Academy CC failed to chase the target and thus lost the match by 109 runs. George Sesay top scored with 27 runs not out and Desmond Phillie contributed 12 runs to the total.

Emmanuel Pessima was declared man of the match for his brilliant performance with the bat.

Another match was played on Sunday against Wonderers Cricket Club. Wonderers Cricket Club won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Wonderers scored 110 runs in stipulated 20 overs. The main scorers for wonderers were Abubakarr Kamara 26runs and Adolphus Massaquoi with 25. For Kent, Richard Tengbeh took 2 wickets in 4 overs for 18runs and Osman Thomas Sankoh took 2 wicket in 4 overs.

In reply, Kent chased the target and won by 4 wickets. Osman Thomas Sankoh top scored with 25 runs not out and Mohamed Lamin Kamara contributed 20 runs to the total.

Osman Thomas Sankoh of Kent was declared man of the match for his good performance with both bat and ball. In a division with two promotion spots, Kent is only two points from safety now, and will have the chance to promote if they beat Old Prince Waleans Cricket Club on Saturday.
